AMD y VALVE anuncian que los Catalyst estarán disponibles vía Steam

AMD y Valve se han unido para ofrecer a todos los jugadores de la plataforma Steam y con hardware gráfico AMD (ATI Radeon), actualizaciones de drivers gráficos desde la misma plataforma. Esto permitirá a los usuarios de la plataforma Steam poder detectar automáticamente nuevas actualizaciones de drivers, descargarlas e instalarlas. La primera versión de los drivers que estarán disponibles en Steam serán los ATI Catalyst 10.9 correspondientes al mes en curso  y que pronto muy pronto estarán disponibles para descarga. (Eso sí por ahora controladores gráficos para notebooks no están contemplados, quizás más adelante.)

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Sept. 15, 2010 — AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced its collaboration with Valve to deliver ATI Catalyst™ graphics driver updates via its Steam platform, a leading platform for PC games and digital entertainment. Steam users can now detect and install the latest ATI Catalyst driver for their ATI Radeon™ graphics card directly from within Steam. Valve’s most recent Steam Hardware Survey shows that fully 87 percent of DirectX® 11 gamers are enjoying ATI Radeon or ATI Mobility Radeon™ hardware.
